Quite simply, “I Have A Dream” Foundation^® –Richmond could not operate effectively without volunteers.   In a typical year, approximately 80 people volunteer for a total of more than 2,200 hours.  Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities including tutoring, mentoring, teaching, chaperoning field trips, fundraising and providing administrative support.

One way of recognizing our outstanding volunteers is through participation in the President’s Volunteer Service Award program.  Established in 2003, the Award recognizes individuals, families or groups who have met or exceeded requirements for volunteer service and have demonstrated exemplary citizenship through volunteering. There are three levels and four categories of the Award varying by age and hours of service completed in a twelve-month period.   All Award recipients receive a personalized certificate of achievement, a congratulatory letter from the President of theUnited States, a congratulatory letter from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation and an official President’s Award pin.
